Barokksolistene was founded by Norwegian violinist Bjarte Eike in 2005, and is now recognised as one of the world’s most dynamic and exciting early music groups. Their unique concert experiences, mixing traditional and classical music styles with improvisation, dance and storytelling, play to sold-out audiences worldwide.
Barokksolistene was created to challenge everyone’s perception of what an early music ensemble is and can do. As a flexible collective of some of Europe’s top performers, crossing the boundaries between "classical" music, jazz, folk music and dance, our passion is for re-examining music, both musically and theatrically. In the many years since the first Alehouse performance in 2007, Barokksolistene’s productions have expanded like branches on a tree, with its roots in early music and folk music, and its trunk being the musicians in the ensemble. Our mission is to create performances that draw the audience in to our world where music creates the story.
