Bjarte Eike

Bjarte Eike was born and raised in Gjøvik in Norway and has his education from the Grieg Academy in Bergen and with Richard Gwilt in London. He has participated in a large number of recordings and has taught baroque violin at the Norwegian Academy of Music in Oslo, and at the Royal Academy of Music in Copenhagen. He is known for pushing boundaries in classical music, reaching a wide audience with his playful and captivating playing.
In addition to his work with Barokksolistene, Bjarte collaborates with orchestras across Europe as musical director. Among his other projects are a collaboration with the Norwegian jazz pianist and composer Jon Balke and the Norwegian visual artist Tone Myskja.
